Christmas Every Day: A Few Nice Dropping Domains For Saturday

By - December 26, 2009 - 0 Comments
The weekend after Christmas is a very sloooooow weekend for domaining but sometimes the slow times give you the best deals.  Not very many domains but here are 3 that I liked. The .nets seem to be the best values on the board lately.  I realize .com is king but when the queen has been going dirt cheap.  Christmas day was a great day to have auctions ending (for buyers) .  I picked up  RatedG (dot) co-m and scorm (dot) n-et for under $150 combined. Petcarrrier.net  61,000 searches and a decent CPC makes this a nice domain.  Will go under $100. ScaryMovies.org 61K searches and plenty of ads m... Read More »

A Christmas Gift For Apple Lovers: The iSlate

By - December 25, 2009 - 0 Comments
We all know it's coming, we just don't know what it's called. The latest rumor comes from TechCrunch.  (The Domains a nice story as well) When TechCrunch speaks people listen.  They've done a little investigative reporting and have linked the registration and trademarks of iSlate to the various entities that Apple has used in the past.  The protection company Mark Monitor has been used in the past to secure domain and trademarks and they appear to be all over the islate.  Apple evidently did all this three years ago and it from looking at registration history of many of the islate domains, it wasn... By - December 25, 2009 - 1 Comment
In the spirit of Christmas and domaining I decided to write my first comic.  I used to do it all the time but Mr. Patrick is kind of known for his and I didn't want to steal his thunder.  Let me know if you like it.  If you don't................Merry Christmas ... Read More »

A Few Nice Domains Dropping Tomorrow: Free Money

By - December 24, 2009 - 0 Comments
It may not quite be free money but this has been a great month for drops.  There have been some high paying keywords with over 1000 searches going for $25.  Here are a few more dropping on Christmas Eve bloggertemplate.net I used to look for this all this time and looks like 6,000 plus people per month (33K worldwide)  still are. No bidders StudFinder.net I used to own one of these but the thing kept going off all the time when I was using it.  (drum then cymbal)  22K searches for either the percussion or the men.  Either way, only one bidder at $10 AppleDumplings.net I'm not saying you'... I Am an Internet Pioneer And I Didn’t Even Know It

By - December 23, 2009 - 0 Comments
I remember the day my Grandfather showed it to me.  A big Apple  computer with the cool Apple logo.  It was an Apple computer and it had my what would become my favorite games in the world Lemonade Stand and Adventure.  It would also be my gateway to a world far away from Central IL.  Who would of thought I would spend a few hours a night at that computer for the next 30 years.  That started in  1977 (Lemonade Stand came around the late 70's)  and I've been using Apple computers ever since.  I was cool in the 70's, pretty cool in the 80's, stupid and frustrated in the 90's, and now cool again i... SEDO Auctions Have Been Terrible Lately But ZESE.com Is Over at Bido

By - December 23, 2009 - 4 Comments
You can tell it's Christmas.  Not a lot of action going on at the auction houses. SEDO has been dry lately.  It's been a while since I've seen it this light of good domains.  I'm going to chalk it up to end of year and the holidays but I will certainly say it has to do with the increase in other auctions around the net.  But there is a very special domain in the midst of all the domains over at Bido.  Its ZESE.com. A same vowel 4L is getting expensive right now and this one is a beauty.  Now if I sound like a gloating father, I am.  In full disclosure, this is my domain and although I'm a litt... Read More »

8 Unusual Ways I’ve Used to Promote Our Websites/Domains

By - December 22, 2009 - 1 Comment
I got the idea for this article after reading Bruce's article on Advertising Fail and receiving the fine Christmas gift from Rick Latona. As a brick and mortar business owner AND a domain owner I often have to cross back and forth from traditional forms of advertising to "guerilla" type advertising.  Knowing both sides of the advertising model has been very helpful to both businesses and opens up more avenues in which to promote.  As the websites grow I will be able to use our TV commercial and print design people to run TV and magazine ads. As the brick and mortar customer base grows, I am able to us... Read More »

My Secret Santa Turned Out to Be……….Rick Latona?

By - December 22, 2009 - 0 Comments
I've been getting a ton of boxes delivered to the office lately.  Between myself and all our employees, Mr. UPS has been stopping by several times a day delivering gifts.  Among all the boxes an unclaimed box sat there by itself.  It was addressed to my first name (I go by my middle name and I never said Rick and I were BEST friends) and it wasn't anything I was expecting.  I just assumed it was a gift from a vendor so I opened it up. I was surprised to find a nice card from Rick wishing me a Happy Holidays and a gift from one of the companies he's been working with, Vino.com.  In the well packed b... Read More »

6 Nice Domains Dropping Today

By - December 22, 2009 - 0 Comments
Some great value on the board the last couple days.  I've picked up some great flips and names for minisites.  Here are a few that I like for today DCSS.net Surprisingly, this one has no bidders but gets 2400 searches and a $1.40 CPC.  Valuate at $1600 elix.com Nice pronounceable 4L that also gets some traffic.  With 22 bidders this one my finish pricey. Valuate $2900 WanderleiSilva.com This one may kill you if you register it.  No, not a lawyer but Wanderlei himself.  He's a UFC fighter and great guy.  Met him a few weeks ago in Portland and although he's shorter than I expected he can ... I Love Google Sending Me Traffic, But What Some Are Looking For Is Humorous

By - December 21, 2009 - 0 Comments
We all love search engine traffic. Many of us live through it.  I was checking the searches that brought people to my blog and I had to laugh.  Evidently I've written about something that contains the words or combination of words that triggers these finds.  Have a gander at my some of the unusual keywords that brought them here.  Surprisingly, the time spent on the site by a few of these was over 2 minutes despite my site was nothing close to what they were searching for hysterectomysurgery........This was a dropping domain that I posted so evidently at some point I came up for the search term.Â...
