The Results of the Vegas Slot Pull Giveaway

By - January 31, 2010 - 0 Comments
The results are in from the accounting firm of Cultra,Wells, Correa, and Thompson on the first annual Vegas Slot pull.  Chad at AdInfinite was announced as the winner back on January 15th and he has been holding his breath in excitement since.  I took our accounting team to the Hard Rock slots and inserted the $20 winnings. According to the rules we played only the $20 and no more.   No pressing or "letting in ride".  As per our own rules we made the pull between 1 am and 6am Vegas time.  The results were not exactly as we had planned with the total after all pulls being $5.  Since $5 won't ev... The Problem With Moving TRAFFIC Auction to the Next Morning Summed Up in One Photo

By - January 30, 2010 - 3 Comments
I think this photo pretty much summed up the problem of the TRAFFIC auction moving to early the next morning.  A morning after the last night of going out for most conference attendees in Vegas.  To the rest of the world 10 o'clock is not that early but in Vegas it's like having it at 5am anywhere else.  I was digging through my photos this weekend and thought this photo pretty much summed up the crowd the next morning.  It's a bit exaggerated (there were many more people sitting behind me) but still a great pic. ... A Few Nice Domains Dropping Over The Weekend

By - January 30, 2010 - 2 Comments
Not a lot of great names this weekend but it IS the weekend and there hardly ever is.  Here are a few I saw that were OK.  If you have a few and want to share what you found, feel free to chime in. For more names go to DomainStryker.com, who supplies me with the tools to find the names. NoseJob.org It's a bit of a stretch but tons of searches and nice CPC make up for this .org Tike.net Tike or Kid.   Gets 2300 searches and has a valuate of $2100.  No bidders at this point. PeterGriffin.net You may get sued by Family Guy but everybody knows this name and 92,000 people are searching for ... Read More »

10 Tips To Help You Survive A Domaining Conference

By - January 29, 2010 - 3 Comments
People who aren't in the know about domaining conferences think it's a bunch of web geeks that get together and trade domains and then go back to the hotel room at 8 and call their mother. It's not quite like that, although I may have called my Mom but I think it was for bail money. It's actually a combination of socializing, learning, and a whole bunch of partying thrown in. As a matter of fact, it took this 40 year old man to detox and catch up on his sleep because I slept a grand total of 12 hours in three days, 8 more hours than Rick Latona after the computer crash. Here are 10 helpful hints to g... Read More »

And the First iPad Domain Name Sells for………..

By - January 29, 2010 - 2 Comments
The first iPad domain iPad.de is about to go off at auction over at Sedo and so far the price is a little over $7000  with about 20 hrs to go. The owners , DomainFactory of Germany are pretty experienced domain owners with 314,000 names in their portfolio so they knew the time is right to get top dollar for the name. I think it's a good move getting rid of the domain. It's one of those cases where you are going to get mad traffic but if you try and monetize it with anything Apple you will soon find yourself in a lawsuit. That essentially means no parking. This also leads to the problem that you... Read More »

A Few Nice Domains Dropping Today

By - January 29, 2010 - 0 Comments
Some pretty good .net names dropping today but very little in the way of dot coms. Godaddy dot coms are mostly junk so all in all, if you are only a dot com person, go back to bed. For more names go to DomainStryker.com, who supplies me with the tools to find the names. 4Good.com I normally am not a big fan of throwing a letter in but this certainly works. Valuate has is at $2000 and is certainly worth the $110 it's at now. (or at the time of post) Cobbles.net You may be bidding against me but right now there's nobody interested in this one. 10K searches and perfect name for someone selling ... Read More »

The Playboy Mansion Was Awesome!!!!

By - January 28, 2010 - 9 Comments
I wasn't even able to attend the Playboy Mansion party at DomainFest but because I am jealous, I am going to try and trump everyone's story telling me how awesome it was by writing a fake post before they get posted.  It would go something like this When the limousine came to pick us up I thought it would be your typical, 20 people pile in like we're off to High School prom.  Not this time.  6 per car and 4 Playboy bunnies who were already waiting in the car.  The whole way there we drank Krystal as the girls played musical chairs on our laps while listening to Little Jon. As I exited the car ... Read More »

It’s 2010 and I Still Can’t Bid Online At DomainFest Auction

By - January 28, 2010 - 1 Comment
The entire world gets all giddy at the latest and greatest gadgets from Apple Computer but one thing stays constant, auction houses can't make a stable platform for online bidding with a Mac. Maybe it's not Can't but Won't. I would guess they don't want to add more cost to the already high cost of producing a bidding platform. Presently the only platform that seems to be able to keep up is a downloadable app that syncs with the web. To this point they're all written for Windows. The DomainFest auction is something I want to be a part of and being a 100% Mac household (OK, I was forced to buy a netb... Read More »

PR 10 Link for Sale: The Current Value of Links by PR

By - January 28, 2010 - 9 Comments
I don't really buy or sell links but I am always following the value of such links on the net. Obviously a lot determines the value of a link with the major determining factors being Pagerank and age. A page rank of 8 in a completely different category may have less juice for you than a PR7 with a perfect match. If they are given to you, I really wouldn't worry about it but if you are paying good money you want to get the most bang for your buck. After scouring through many different ads, sites, and message boards I thought I would share with you what I feel are the going rates for links of differen... Read More »

A Few Nice Domains Dropping Today: Free iPad Edition

By - January 28, 2010 - 0 Comments
I'm a little tired from registering all the ipad names last night. I really think freeipadatthiswebsite.com is going to make me huge cash. In all seriousness, I can't wait to get my new ipad and have been waiting for them for our retail store for years. We've been an Apple company since 1978 and this keeps getting better and better. And yes we bought the stock back then and have added since so I could care less what they cost. Now on to the drops. For more names go to DomainStryker.com, who supplies me with the tools to find the names. StressReliever.org I'm not a big .org fan but this name wo... Read More »
