A Word of Advice. Never Open Up For Singer,Dancer,Magician and Star of Trading Spaces

By - March 31, 2010 - 2 Comments
Part of my job at the nursery is to do media events.  As I've stated in the past I am on a TV show and occasionally, like this week, I host.  I also work for (non paid) ABC as their 'garden guy" each week on the news.  It's great for business and also good practice of my ever evolving public speaking skills.   I am completely comfortable in front of the camera and can give a speech as easily in front of 50 people as in front of 10,000.  I prefer large groups but I'm not quite a big enough draw to speak in front of any group larger than 500.  This past weekend I was asked to give a speech to lead ... Of All The Names Dropping On NameJet and GoDaddy These Are the Ones I Like

By - March 31, 2010 - 4 Comments
I have purchased more domains than normal on drops but I have decided to give Epik a few domains to play with and see if I can make any money. I'm buying names based on whether or not it I can sell that product through an affiliate type site.  My first name RoboticPets dot com.  I hope to sell a lot of toys and have the site set up and running full steam by Christmas.  Now onto the names for today. Airplay.com It's already at $1000 so I'm not sure this one fits into a "value" play but a very nice name.  1100 uniques a month and a $5500 valuate. TheThing.net 41,000 searches, most likely for th... Read More »

Ricky Martin is Gay and 10 Things in Domaining That We Don’t Talk About But Are Obviously True

By - March 30, 2010 - 20 Comments
There are many things in this world that are fully obvious and we acknowledge personally yet leave it alone in public.  It's either just not that big of a deal or nobody wants to ruffle feathers.  I on the other hand, like to say what I'm thinking.  Usually I'm pretty on but half the time I should have just kept my mouth shut and let it be.  We'll see if these observations have the same ratio. 1.  A high percentage of domainers still squat on other people's traffic or name.  It may not always be a flat out trademark squat but I'm always amazed how many people register the dot net or other tld o... Double Your Money: A Few Nice Names Dropping Today

By - March 30, 2010 - 0 Comments
It's not a good buy unless you can sell or monetize the domain and I think all the names below can be flipped if the prices stay reasonable.  You can't afford to sit on middle of the road or weak domains hoping to resell.  You need to flip them quickly or monetize them out of the gate. Otherwise, save your money.  Here are some names I think you can do one or the other. Unsightly.com A fantastic name.  The domain will be more for fun that true selling of product but this name has great possibilities xWax.com A very pronounceable 4L.  Only at $10, obviously will be higher but should be able to... What is the Value of A Newsletter Subscriber?

By - March 29, 2010 - 2 Comments
You see it all over the net.  "Please sign up for our newsletter" or here is something free, all you have to do is sign in with your email and you can have it.  So obviously there is value to newsletter to subscribers, but how much?  My answer is simple.  It depends. The value of newsletter depends on a few things. 1. Did they sign up or did you harvest? The value of a person that signed up on their own is much more than someone that was forced to give up their email to get a free product.  If you scraped it from somewhere else the value comes close to 0. A domain blog I read recently decided... Read More »

Of All the Names Dropping Monday, These are the Names That May Have Value

By - March 29, 2010 - 0 Comments
It's Monday, and that means another chance to have a money making week.  I really didn't find very many names dropping today that I liked.  I've been looking for names that are an actual product that can be sold using an affiliate store.  I'm paying someone to set up a bunch of these and going to put a few thousand up to test how it pays off. Of course, I'll let you know later.  Now onto the names, sorry for the short list FreeImmigrationForms.com 1984 searches, $1400 valuation SolarFarmers.com A term that is brand new and will be used much more in the future. TrainingBikes.com I actually ... Read More »

Sundays and holidays are great days to get good names because everybody gets out of the groove. Here are a few names that are worth picking up VacationSpots.net 27,000 searches, $3100 valuation.   Nice travel dot net SchoolBooks.net 8200 searches and great college textbook affiliate domain ClergyInsurance.com I would buy this domain, I think many clergy are going to need it MedicalInsurance.net 22,000 searches, $3000 valuate, tons of ads PDO.org Three letter dot org.  I don't like them but others do and that's all that matters... By - March 27, 2010 - 3 Comments
For a weekend there are a lot of good names dropping.  Normally there aren't enough good names to even put up a list.  Today is different, some possible good buys today.  Here are a few I like.  They may not go cheap but they could stil be a good buy. Toddlers.net It's going to be too rich for my blood but it doesn't mean I don't acknowledge its value CheddarCheese.net 33K searches and a nice generic dot net LostChild.com It's always hard to monetize these kinds of names but a very nice generic JewelryBoxes.net 376,000 searches.   HUGE ColoringBook.net I remember looking for colori... You Want to Make REAL Money With Your Domains? Sell a Product

By - March 26, 2010 - 8 Comments
Obviously there are many ways to make a living in domaining.  Some buy and sell names, some sell other people's names, some people market for the domain companies, and others buy and develop,  selling other people's services or goods.   All these can be very profitable and can even make you millions as proven by many domainers but if you want to make real money, sell something. Sure you can make money being an affiliate and getting your cut but after your 10% guess who makes the other 90%, the person with the product.  An ebook is a product but it's not even a real book.  Again, people have mad...
