Of the Names Dropping Today, Here Are Some That Are Flippable (yes that’s a word)
By ShaneCultra - March 26, 2010 - 1 Comment
Decided to go with Epik and develop one of the names I picked up on a drop auction. I'll fill you in later on how it works out. If it goes well I'll be sending over a lot of my names to them. They seem to be doing a good job with other people's names. If you have any positives or negatives about them, drop me a line via email, please don't bash or shill for them in the comments. Now on to the names.
VoipAdaptor.com I know I had to buy one of these so I imagine others are looking for it. Actually a misspelling but still 1600 searches ($3.54 CPC ) are and it valuates at $6100 (Thanks Brand... Read More »

Amazon Going After Domain Owners With The Word “Kindle” In Them
By ShaneCultra - March 25, 2010 - 3 Comments
Much like Apple, Amazon has decided that they and only they, will own any domains with the word Kindle in it. Many sites like this one have received C and D letters for their domains over the last few weeks AND have been given notice they want the Twitter accounts deleted as well. While I haven't seen any lawsuits as of yet, it does seem that Amazon is serious about protecting the name. There are a ton of domains out there that will be affected but none other that this guy. He registered hundreds of Kindle domains back in 2007 and thinks that the Domain by Proxy thing will save him. I th... Read More »

Changing Meta Tags Really Does Work
By ShaneCultra - March 25, 2010 - 1 Comment
I really am no SEO expert but I try. I am not trying to get my mini sites or "fun" sites to the first page of Google, but my real business. My family's nursery realized a while ago that yellow book was fading and that thousands per month could be saved if we concentrated on newsletters and working on getting to the first page for local keywords. My father had always been in charge of the website. He's done it since 1995 and I 'm pretty sure we hadn't updated it since then. The website was my Dad's thing and I never got involved despite the fact I was getting pretty good at the whole web thing.... Read More »

Of the Names Dropping Today, These Are a Few I Think Offer Good Value
By ShaneCultra - March 25, 2010 - 0 Comments
A lot of good dot nets dropping but I'm trying to concentrate more on dot coms. They are certainly "good values" in the dot nets but the selling is the hard part. More reward for the money but certainly more effort. Now onto the names
BuyMyTicket.com Easy to remember and the name says exactly what you are trying to do with the website.
AffiliateJuice.com I thought affiliate people would like this one.
CannedFruit.com Not sure if you are really going to sell canned fruit but nice generic and easy to remember
LexaproGeneric.com $8100 valuation and you can make an affiliate store to this ... Read More »
A Fun Way To Find Domain Names
By ShaneCultra - March 24, 2010 - 5 Comments
After about 345 articles regarding it, you've realized I love strong 5L domain names. I picked up weeba.com the other day and am always looking for 5 letter words with no meaning that are easy to spell, pass the radio test, and tend to buy names that end in "o" or "a". Finding 5Ls isn't difficult but finding strong names under $100 is. One place I enjoy looking through names is Wordoid.com. It's a name generator and is great from coming up with meaningless random words based on how many characters you want it to use.
It's a simple site that makes up a name and then tells you if the ... Read More »
Get Em To Stay: Groupon Uses Comedy To Keep Subscribers Around
By ShaneCultra - March 24, 2010 - 0 Comments
Ask any website owner and they'll tell you the most valuable part of the site are the email subscribers. Its saves you thousands (sometimes millions) of dollars in advertising because you have a direct channel to you audience without having to pay some form of media to reach them. Unfortunately you will occasionally lose someone and by law you have to let them unsubscribe........but you don't have to let them go easily. Groupon is simple site that lets users buy deals from local companies. It could be a $10 backpack from Lands End or an $8 pedicure. Groupon matches loss leader giveaways with... Read More »
Names are Dropping Today and These are the Ones I Think Offer Value
By ShaneCultra - March 24, 2010 - 0 Comments
Gotta love the $151K camroulette hit yesterday. We all hope that our next pickup will be the next camroulette. I'm a bit more realistic but a man can dream can't he? Now here are some names that you may be able to make at least a portion of that
Comfrey.com Comfrey is an herb that has always been popular with organic medicine. 5500 searches and $9000 valuation. I'm in to a $1000 but herbs aren't my thing
QuickConverter.com I like the name but nobody else does. Certainly worth $20 and can be used for a ton of different uses
DogCombs.com Maybe you can sell it to the Dogwalkers I hear ... Read More »
CamRoulette.com Sells for $151,000 and Everyone Starts To Dream Again
By ShaneCultra - March 23, 2010 - 2 Comments
It's the kind of sale that we all dream about. You pickup a name for cheap, an internet sensation builds up with a name similar and then you sell for big bucks. With ChatRoulette the hottest thing on the Internet it was no surprise that the traffic and value of CamRoulette.com had skyrocketed but nobody knew it had this value. The DomainMadness 2 auction proved it today with the final price of the CamRoulette auction reaching $151,000. In some ways it's a better name the ChatRoulette because it's really is a Cam Roulette. Then again it's also a video roulette and that only sold for $5K . I say... Read More »
Some Big Names Up for Auction Today
By ShaneCultra - March 23, 2010 - 0 Comments
We all have been a little disappointed with the quality of names and especially the results of the big domain auctions lately. Earlier this week I wrote about my excitement with the Domain Madness 2 auction coming up. Well the time has arrived and we'll get to see if the previous problems come down to lack of quality names or lack of money. Make sure to hit the big button to the right to register to win an iPad. Yeah, they are a paid advertiser but not until after I wrote the post and I had to think about giving up my chance to win the iPad when I did it. Here are a few of the names I think ... Read More »
Howard Neu Was in Porky’s? And Now Back To Me
By ShaneCultra - March 23, 2010 - 4 Comments
DnJournal announced yesterday that Howard Neu has a new blog but also threw in a little bio and mentioned that Howard was in Smokey and the Bandit II and Porky's II. It made me realize that is probably a lot we don't know about other domainers. Heck, some of these guys don't even use their real name so maybe we don't want to know any more. Here are a few unknown facts about me
1. I lost $160,000 in one hour daytrading in 2007
2. Despite that one bad trade, that year I took $2000 and turned it into $120,000 in 9 months (obviously would have been more if not for that one trade)
3. I playe... Read More »
