Great. Frank Schilling and the “Big Boys” Are Making More Money But Nothing’s Changed for the Rest of Us

By - May 25, 2011 - 12 Comments
It's not jealousy, it's just a fact.  Congratulations to Frank Schilling, Rich Schwartz and Michael Berkens. Glad to hear they are getting the cut of the revenue they deserved all along.  I just wonder what took them so long.  I never understood why all had their own registrars but couldn't form a parking company that dealt directly with an ad provider. Google was providing parking to thousands of little guys like me and yet domain investors with tens of thousands of domains couldn't negotiate their own deal with Google?  Well they finally did and not surprising,  it's better than everyone else's d... Wednesday’s Daily Domain Drop and Auction Picks: Rookie Edition

By - May 25, 2011 - 1 Comment
Made a decision to actively move some names this month.  You might say "why don't you actively try and move names every month?" and I'll merely say.  It takes effort to try and sell names and I don't make much effort.  I just wait for bids on sedo or email and that's all.  I'm going to put some up at Sedo auctions or promote them here.  Time for some spring cleaning.  But don't think I'm not still buying. Take a look at today's names. Rookie.com One of the better domain names to come through NameJet in a long time. I like it better than OrangeJuice.com LittleKicks.com Great kids shoe domain.... DomainFest Barcelona Auction Has Some Great Names and a Few Problems

By - May 24, 2011 - 5 Comments
Over the last few years I've had countless articles about domain auctions and their inability to add "sweet spot" domains to their live auction list.  By sweet spot I mean domains that would sell in the $2 to $5K amount and draw multiple bidders due to their low entry point.  While there is no doubt that the bills are paid by the 6 and 7 digit domain sales, I believe they can get rid of the "friends and family" domains off the list and swap them with some lower priced, more attractive names. Let's start with the positives.  Their are some fantastic names in the DomainFest Live auction. Let's look... Read More »

Tuesday’s Daily Domain Drop and Auction Picks: EPO Edition

By - May 24, 2011 - 1 Comment
People email me all the time asking what I look for when picking names in the drop lists.  The truth is I've been using blood transfusions, EPO, and growth hormone to make the very best picks I can. It gives me the extra strength and conditioning I need to be able to stay up and go through the lists.  I figured it was time I come clean before Elliot testifies against me.   Now onto the names. Wupy.com I hate to start an argument this early but technically not a CVCV but most treat this as such.  I like it either way GreenFlowers.com You might ask why I don't want this one.  I like plant name... My HandReg of the Day: Apriums.com

By - May 23, 2011 - 8 Comments
I don't do a lot of hang regs but like all domain investors I go through my daily routine and as I come across something interesting I instantly check and see if it's been registered.  This week I found what I think is a pretty good name. I was in Sam's Club the other day and sitting in the fruit section was a fruit I hadn't seen before. Apriums.  Every Tuesday I hit Sams to pick up a case of my favorite fruit, pluots. It's 75% plum and 25% apricot.  I like it better than a plum because it's a little more tangy and much firmer than a normal plum.  Between that and bananas,  I eat enough frui... Read More »
