You Find Some Pretty Interesting Things When You Open Up Your Domains’ Email

By - December 28, 2011 - 7 Comments
Recently I started getting curious.  What would I see if I set up a catch all email account for a bunch of my domains?  If you don't know what a catch all is, it's that little button that says "have this email catch all emails" .  When you click on it, any email that doesn't have it's own individual email but shares that domain, goes to you.  That means if you have shane@canstilldunk.com and somebody emails something to jsmith@canstilldunk.com and you don't have an email set up for that then you will get it.   It opens up a world of interesting emails.  After opening up 15 emails, here are some o... That Name GeneticScreening.com That Just Sold for $2200 at Sedo? Sergey Brin’s Wife Anne Wojcicki Just Bought It

By - December 28, 2011 - 6 Comments
If you're not familiar with 23andMe, it's a DNA testing/screening company that was founded by the wife of Google owner Sergey Brin.  Anne Wojcicki is more than just the wife of a billionaire, she is pioneering genetic screening and translating the results to give you a clearer picture of your health and future.  Evidently she is also a shrewd buyer.  She recently picked up GeneticScreening.com for a mere $2200 this month at Sedo. China Gearing Up For Internet Expansion and What It Means For Domain Investors

By - December 28, 2011 - 6 Comments
Starting in 2013, China will begin testing Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), an upgrade from their current IPv4, to increase overall internet use throughout the country. Currently the country has used up almost all of the IP addresses in IPv4 and IPv6 will increase the pool of available addresses so that more devices can connect directly to the internet and increase the availability of  domain names. The large scale expansion is set to be deployed in 2014 or 2015. So what does this mean for domain investors? Simply put, the internet is growing in China. As of last year, China has 278 million addre... Read More »

Wednesday’s Big List of Sin, Domains At Auction, and Dropping Domains From Around the Net

By - December 28, 2011 - 2 Comments
I've been receiving some nice emails about my choice of domains lately. Evidently I am on a path to Hell through my choice of humorous and genitalia based picks.  Somehow my laughing at boobie domains has touched a nerve in the Bible belt.  It really doesn't bother me much as I've found that people that preach what not to do,  are most likely the ones that are doing it behind closed doors.  All it takes is opening a newspaper and looking at the political and religious leaders to prove that point.  From Martin Luther King and Jessie Jackson cheating on their wives to Larry Craig leading the anti ga... Viia.com Tops Sedo’s Sales List at $58,806: 706 Names Sold for Total of $2.5 Million

By - December 27, 2011 - 6 Comments
Before I get to my favorite buys off this weeks' top sales, I'd like to point out it's another solid week for Sedo with $2.5 million in sales this week.  32% of all sales came through Buy It Now.   If you take the $2.5 million and subtract the public sales you'll see that there were a lot of private sales or sales that were lower priced.  I've said it several weeks in a row , Buy it Now has a better chance of moving your name.  You are trading the chance you are going to leave some money on the table but profits on the table trump nothing in your pocket.   Here are the sales, my favorite buys wer...
