A Little Inside View To My Day And A Picture of My New Summer Office

By - June 30, 2012 - 2 Comments
By now you've all figured out my day job is owning a nursery.  I don't sit behind a computer all day and most of the time my daytime online communication is merely checking my phone.  The good and the bad is I'm constantly outside.  Fresh air means little to no sickness (of course I've been sick twice at DomainFest), constant moving means a healthy, lean body, but it also means the elements.  Cold, rain, hot, sun, I get it all. Sure, I could move to nicer weather but hard to find 100 acres at of land at Illinois prices, and have a 3500 square foot house for under $300K.  It's been hot lately but... Read More »

Saturday’s Big List of Names at Auction or Dropping Around the Net 6-30-12

By - June 30, 2012 - 5 Comments
I received quite a few emails regarding the sale of WAN.com yesterday despite that it wasn't even my name.  I talked to David the owner and even he has no idea if the bidders were real or not. Godaddy didn't call him or try and make any contact despite the fact it was the largest closing price of any domain they've ever sold.  You would think for $150,000 plus that they stand to make on commission that a phone call is in order.  One of the weirdest auctions and management I've ever seen. I hope for David's sake it turns out legit.  It would be a great story.   Now on to today's shitty list. ... Read More »

Big Friday’s List of Names at Auction or Dropping Around the Net 6-29-12

By - June 29, 2012 - 0 Comments
Another nice day of solid names.  It was a little over 100 degrees here yesterday.  I'm good up until 105 due to the fact I work in the hot sun every day.  You would think it would give me an advantage in triathlons but evidently there is a big difference in walking around in the heat and biking 112 miles and running a marathon in it.  I always have domaining to fall back on if I never become a pro in triathlons. I only need to drop my time by 40% all the while getting older.  Sounds reasonable.  Now on to today's names. PlasticFence.com  I hate them but no denying that a ton of people ar... Read More »

WAN.com Up for Sale At Godaddy This Evening with No Reserve Price

By - June 28, 2012 - 9 Comments
Before you think this is one of those "no way this goes through" auction at Godaddy I want to let you know that I talked to the owner tonight and I can guarantee this thing sells to whomever is high bidder. WAN.com is a pretty special name and when I first saw it I assumed like the rest of you that a million people would try and front run this name or that the owner would renew it. But this isn't an expiring name, David put it up for sale on purpose. I realized this immediately when I saw that he had put a link at WAN.com to the auction. I'm writing the article one, because it's a hell of a name and... Read More »
