Leasing Domains: My Advice on What a Business Needs to Think About When Leasing a Domain

There is no doubt in my mind, as prices rise, there will be more leasing of domains. Leasing makes sense for many businesses,  for others it may not.  There is really no sense in discussing the domain owner's side of the model because it's all win.  They get cash flow AND hold on to their asset.  The real discussion here is for the lessee.  I operate on both sides of the model and feel I understand the benefits to both.  The first question I ask myself is.  Why would a business rent a domain and build a market on someone else's domain? Well ladies, we made it.  Made it through another year.  I capped off the year yesterday by buying Groupons like they were crack (saving $700) and finished by winning my Fantasy Football league for a cool $1600.  That's how you end a year.   I'm still happily married, my teenage daughter likes me 50% of the time, and all my businesses had record sales.  Mission accomplished. Absolutely Ridiculous: Registrar SpeedNames CHARGES for Account Info Changes

That's right. I've found a whole new level of ridiculous. I won a domain at Namejet recently and was awarded the name in a previously unheard of registrar named SpeedNames. It happens fairly regularly at Namejet. They represent quite a large group of registrars selling their expired names. It's what makes them great, and at the same time sucks when you have to deal with these small guys. Normally the first thing I do when I find out I'm at these small registrars is mark my calendar 60 days out so I immediately get it out and transferred to a registrar that isn't going to rip me off. Hate to Beat the Godaddy Groupon Deal to Death But …….

We've all been reading about the awesome Godaddy Groupon deal that's available for the next day and a half but here are some info I can share after buying the coupon and using it today 1.  YOU CAN use all your Godaddy coupon promo codes with this deal.  You can use the 99 cent codes, the renewal codes.  All of them.  I used three different types of codes and they all worked.   The result was a lot of free money 2.
