Happens Every Day: Guy Buys Two Domains From Me on Sedo for $1400 and Lets Them Expire

By - May 11, 2012 - 9 Comments
Things like this don't surprise me any more but I still have to shake my head. I was doing my daily run through of the expiring auctions at Godaddy and noticed two domains that looked familiar. Wuby and Vuby.com. They were two names that I sold at auction to the same person on Sedo in 2010.   Evidently he lost track of his purchases and forgot to renew them at which Godaddy takes over and puts them up for auction. I actually could care less that they expired except for one thing. Vuby.com sold for more than twice what I sold it for.     Nobody likes to see names the... Read More »

Friday’s Big List of Domains at Auction or Dropping Around The Internet 5-11-12

By - May 11, 2012 - 2 Comments
Ahhhhh.  My first day off of the year.  It feels so good.  I needed a battery recharge and it was obvious in these posts.  The links were messed up and sloppy.  But when you are writing them while falling asleep, mistakes are bound to happen.  My daughter is in the track state championships today and tomorrow.  I'm proud she's in them as a 6th grader (she's in for pole vault and a few other events) but she's competing against girls two grades higher so it should be a day of setting new goals rather than accomplishing them.  Now on to today's names. HouseMortgage.comI knew this one would g... Read More »

Dot Co Wants To Have Their Cake, Eat It, and Then Throw it At the Domain Investor Who Baked It

By - May 10, 2012 - 24 Comments
Of course I have to chime in on the beatdown of Juan Calle and dot co regarding the video of the LeWeb "Couldn't get the dot com so I'll take the dot co" story. Let's start at the very beginning. Colombia was stuck with a name that immediately labeled it as a typo of dot Com. Investors didn't view it an investment in an emerging tld but rather a chance to get some free traffic. Negativity from the get go in the footsteps of the dot cm disaster. Along come the dot co team and does an excellent job marketing the name as a better alternative tld for individuals and businesses. Yet before the launch, a p... Read More »

By - May 10, 2012 - 3 Comments
I'm testing out a new domain list parser and it looks like its going to be pretty sweet.  The list today is the first result of using the new tool.  Best of all it lets me snipe Godaddy (yes, Zearn.com does this also) We'll try it out a few more days and if the results continue I'll let you know what it is.  Here are today's names. 7f.net This two character dot net is fetching a big boy price BestoftheHome.com Home sites are fetching big ad revenue and larger media are snapping them up. Get snapped StrategyGames.net  Already over $3000 BeachLiving.com   I want to retire and write t... Read More »

Wednesday’s Big List of Domains at Auction or Dropping Around The Internet 5-9-12

By - May 9, 2012 - 6 Comments
I'm looking for a new tool to search the drops if anyone wants to point me in the right direction. If you are the owner or creator I think I would be a good person to team up with to promote the site. There are a lot of tools out there but most don't have the search functions I'm looking for. Hell, if you get right down to it I'd love someone to build me a tool that does all the things I need to search for. Enough about my problems, here are today's names. Covets.com Just don't covet the neighbors wife. Or bring her to a domain conference LandscapeCompany.com You would think I would want this one.... Read More »
