The Values Of Other TLDS Versus Dot Com According to Sedo’s IDNX

By - December 12, 2012 - 1 Comment
We're all looking for help in pricing domains. While there is no science, there is data and the best data comes from Sedo. Other than Godaddy, they sell more aftermarket domains than anyone and they've been nice enough to take that data and share it. From that data comes IDNX,  and if you look a little deeper there is one chart which is a great basis of which to start with when trying to price "lower level" tlds. Again, every domain is unique and a domain is worth what someone is willing to pay, but data is data. And according to "The Methodology Behind IDNX" you get this chart which I've simplified ev... Congratulations to Domainsville

By - August 18, 2012 - 3 Comments
No they haven't hit any milestones or won any major awards, what Abdu Tarabichi and Domainsville have done is stick around.  Something that many sites haven't done over the years. I appreciate anyone that puts in hard work over long periods of time.  Anyone can try something and then dump it.  It takes a special person to stick with something that is on the fringes of popularity.  And I mean that in a nice way. We all start on the fringe but it takes time to grow into mainstream popularity. Abdu and I have had our words over the last year because I called the site an aggregator and he took offens... No More Late “OutBid!” Emails If You Use Godaddy’s SMS Feature

By - March 19, 2012 - 4 Comments
Paul Nicks was nice enough to chime in the other day and point out that Godaddy DOES offer SMS notifications for several different things including Outbid notices.  These will be received considerably faster than their emails and allow you to actually get back in the bidding.  The emails usually arrive AFTER the auction ended. I tested the SMS and it arrived 20 seconds after. Big difference It's a very simple process.  Simply log in to your Godaddy account and enter the "Auctions" section.  From there you enter the settings section as pointed out below   From there you will be take... Sedo Gives You The Referrers and Keywords That Brought You Traffic: Are You Using It?

By - January 4, 2012 - 2 Comments
Other than the declining return in parking revenue, one of the major issues with parking domains has always been lack of traffic data.  While you get to see how many uniques, clicks, and origin of the traffic, you couldn't see what links and keywords brought visitors to those names.  But you can at Sedo.   Not many people realize that if you go to the individual information page of your domain the most popular referring links and the top keywords that brought people are listed. This information is huge if you are trying to optimize your parking or just figure out the value of your domain.  I've b... Read More »

A Couple of Tools I Like: ViewDNS.info, BustAName and ReverseInternet

By - December 27, 2011 - 1 Comment
There are a ton of tools and websites I use every day and today I wanted to discuss a few I use daily.  I could talk about the number one tool, DomainTools all day,  but there are others that are useful as well. I'll start out by saying they are not paid endorsements but merely things I think are worth sharing because I like the sites.  I am always thankful when people point out tools so I thought I would pass it on. ViewDNS.info Like most of these sites, this site was created by a numbers guy.  Michael Huges is sharp and has created a one stop shop for all kinds of data retrieval.  Much of the ... Read More »
