A Domain Forum Translation Guide for Newbies
By ShaneCultra - April 4, 2011 - 15 Comments
Domain forums are a great place to talk domains but many people don't understand the meaning behind all the responses in the threads and posts. I've decided to put together a guide to help users understand and feel comfortable when responding to these terms. I was going to do an eBook and sell it for $20 but I've decided to offer it for free for all.
1. $400 offer by PM.  What they mean to say is $400 was really never offered. It is my own personal bid because I want the price to be higher and because you can't see my PMs to know if it's true or not.
2. $50 Good for 24hrs. Translation:Â... Read More »
Using Google’s New Page Speed Analyzer To Rank Top Domain Sites: The Results
By ShaneCultra - April 2, 2011 - 9 Comments
Last week I was having terrible problems with my host Media Temple. I realize the value of a quick load for my sites and the impatience of today's Internet user and knew I needed to get my site to load faster or else. Fortunately, my host was able to rectify the situation and get my sites up to par and keep me from the pain of changing service providers. Ironically, Google recently introduced Page Speed Labs to allow users to test their site to see how it ranks on a scale from 1 to 100 about the same time it happened. I was able to use it to see whether my speed was increasing or not. For shits and... Read More »

You’ve Seen the Ads for Big Jumbo But What Exactly is ‘Big Jumbo’
By ShaneCultra - January 13, 2011 - 4 Comments
If you visited any domain sites over the last month, including this one, undoubtedly you've seen the big orange ads for Big Jumbo. I wanted to get a little info about the company so I sent an email with a few questions to Andrew Allemann who you may know better as the man behind Domain Name Wire but also works for Directi which owns Skenzo and a few other companies.
1. What exactly is Big Jumbo?
BigJumbo is a domain name parking platform built with the evolving world of domain name parking in mind. It's designed to be simple to use, and our instant sign-up feature means you can sign up and sta... Read More »

Google Adds Fantastic New Tool: In-Page Analytics
By ShaneCultra - October 15, 2010 - 0 Comments
Google recently added a new tool to their analytics program that gives even more information about what your visitors are doing. Now they've added how your users are navigating your website. They're calling it In-Page Analytics
As a website builder I always want to know where my users are clicking and how they navigate my site, but I've until recently, I've been forced to add third party application to get this kind of data. Google now makes it much easier by adding click tracking to their Analytics program. With click metrics you can make better layout and content decision based on where and how ... Read More »

Is Pagerank Calculated Different For Pre 2004 Domains? Matt Cutts says No….With a Giggle
By ShaneCultra - July 14, 2010 - 5 Comments
Matt Cutts is the know all-tell all man when it comes to Google search. In a recent video he answered this question. As you watch the video you'll see he gives a very definitive answer to the question but the way he giggle and sips his coffee is just enough to give the conspiracy theory people a reason to think he is hiding something. After you watch the video what's your take?

Shane’s 100 Domaining Tips #31 – 40
By ShaneCultra - July 8, 2010 - 4 Comments
Over the last couple weeks I've been slowly releasing my "tips" for successful domaining based on my own experience. I can't guarantee that they'll all be new to you but there will be at least one that either helps you or reminds you to do something you already know.
31. Don't email people and use the sentence "please email the lowest price you'll take for the domain" . You will have a 0% chance of buying the name because our egos will take over and give you a sky high price. Nobody wants to sell a domain thinking they got the "lowest price"
32. In regards to number 31, when bidding on a n... Read More »

Here are the ones I like for todayCKit.com A great search name "Seek It" Of course seekit.com will get half your trafficSimbo.com Another 5L.com that is going to go for over $1K but a very nice name. Using Craigslist to Make Money……..No Not Doing That
By ShaneCultra - May 13, 2010 - 2 Comments
Craiglist is an amazing site. You can get anything and I mean anything you want. Yes that too, but when it comes to business I've had great success finding people with specific skills. No not those skills. Some of the skilled people I've found (or our company) on craiglist over the years
1. An actress for a video blog. She even got hired by ABC
2. A photographer to take pictures of a certain city for a geo site. I needed a bunch of pictures for my site but didn't want fly there or use stock so I hired someone cheap to drive around and get me 20 specific shots
3. Content writers for ... Read More »

Color + Animal = Memorable
By ShaneCultra - May 12, 2010 - 4 Comments
No you are not going to make tons of money on this trend but it does have some value. When companies or people name their business or wares they want it to be something that people can remember. There is nothing easier to remember than a color followed by an animal. Blackdog, bluedog, purplecow. They are all names that will be remembered and most likely not going to be misspelled or misinterpreted. Most likely you'll have to wait on an end user to get good money for the names but I've found that some of these names can be flipped for 100% profit on the forums and sedo. I've also recently exp... Drop Day, The Free Dropping Domains Screener, Steps it Up
By ShaneCultra - April 26, 2010 - 3 Comments
We all love going after dropping domains. It shows in the final bids that they are some of the most sought after domains in our industry. We're all willing to pay money for domain drop analyzers and other than Patrick's GoDrops, I think I can get everything with DropDay.com now that they've added new data such as keywords. Best of all it's free. I'm not being paid to shill for godrops or drop day, I'm merely telling you it's what I use. I think DomainStryker is a good product as well but just too expensive for what you get. You get the exact same information for free at DropDay.com
