Wednesday’s Big List of Domains at Auction or Dropping Around The Internet 5-2-12

By - May 2, 2012 - 2 Comments
The beauty of the Internet is that sales aren't effected by weather. The weather has been so shitty here in Central Illinois. Rain, tornadoes, cold. You name it we've had it. Highs in the 40s last Saturday and 90's this Thursday. If you believe in the world coming to an end then the crazy weather is supporting your case. It screws with sale in the nursery because its feast or famine. Rain and we have people that can't get their job done and then sun and we have so many customers we can't help them all. If it would stay normal we would be fine. I guess that's the fun of business. If it were easy ever... Read More »

This is Why You Don’t Believe “We Were Going to Develop It But Now Need Money” Statements

By - May 1, 2012 - 9 Comments
I'm going to start off by saying I don't know the owners of the domain I am going to talk about and I have no ill will either but there are certain things that make me feel like some domain owners think we're all idiots. The other day I talked about a domain dropping at Godaddy, checkout.org.   I said that I was going to buy it if it sold below $1500.  It sold for $1600 so I didn't buy it.  Good buy for the new owner and best of luck to them.  Then I go to the Domaining.com headlines and see a link to this over at Flippa I have NO problem with people flipping names.  Its what we all do.  I ... The Method To My Madness When I Scan the Auction and Dropping Lists

By - May 1, 2012 - 7 Comments
Everyone has a different method to finding domain names.  There are tens of thousands of names to look through every single day and everyone has a method of scanning through.  I don't follow the Mike Mann method of buying all of them and instead look for a few each day that fit my criteria.  Here is my exact method of going through the lists and I do it in this exact order.  I use Dropday as my tool but there are many tools out there that will do the same thing. Age:  I go through the list and sort by age.  Age doesn't necessarily make a good name but its a great place to start.  Plain and sim... Read More »

I’m Moving Up To A Level Two Domainer: 5 Domaining Goals Complete and Crossed Off

By - April 24, 2012 - 8 Comments
1. Make more than 67 cents a day in parking. Goal accomplished:  There was a point in time I was putting more leftover change from my pockets in the change drawer on my dresser than I was getting from parking.  I didn't have many names during the glory days of parking.  I caught the tail end of it and if I had anything of value I usually sold them off for spending money for new domains.  Most domainers make in literally two seconds what I was making a day.  I vowed to change that.  Not that I feel parking is a key to financial success in domain investing, but I wanted some easy money like these... Domain Names Are Mostly Irrelevant

By - April 22, 2012 - 15 Comments
This is the title of an article from Henry Cooke over at Stuff.co.nz. No doubt the title was created to draw attention but his article doesn't stray very far from the headline. In a nutshell, he states the more generic the domain, the more irrelevant it is. They are TOO generic. Add to the fact that most of the generic terms lead to ads and bad content, users no longer are giving extra credit to the super generic. And I can't say I completely disagree. But Henry Cooke is just stating his opinion without much knowledge about the value of a solid generic. He didn't even know about the SEO value of a do... Read More »
