Domain Flips (Sell.io, InfoApps.com) and Flops (LDTX.com, Poker.vc)

Sep 11 2016

Below is another look at a few recent domain flips and flops, with data courtesy of NameBio.

Flips

CorporateLeasing.com sold for 21,000 USD recently via Mike Mann’s DomainMarket, vs 4,060 USD on 2008-04-15 at Afternic. This isn’t his most profitable flip ever, but I’d take a 5x any day of the week. Some of his past flips discussed here include BroadSpectrum.com and MakeSomeNoise.com.

ForAuction.com sold for 3,350 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 151 USD on 2015-09-02 at GoDaddy. Nearly 20x after commission in a year.

63859.com sold for 2,060 USD recently at NameJet, vs 265 USD on 2014-10-29 at GoDaddy. The numerics keep chugging along.

LocalMarketers.com sold for 1,280 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 210 USD on 2015-09-08 at GoDaddy.

Sell.io sold for 5,500 USD recently at Flippa, vs 3,300 USD on 2015-12-29 at Sedo. Around a 50% gain after commission in less than a year.

InfoApps.com sold for 2,231 USD recently at Sedo, vs 365 USD on 2016-04-13 at NameJet. Appears to be an inexpensive upgrade from the developed .de. They’re a company based in Germany which describes themselves as, “The leading-edge Patent Information Systems Provider”.

Flops

Poker.vc sold for 210 USD recently at Sedo, 1,655 USD on 2006-04-11 at Afternic. I guess a pricey keyword can’t save every extension.

LDTX.com sold for 1,246 USD recently at 4.CN, vs 2,453 USD on 2016-01-15 at Sedo. Ooops, this LLLL.com was bought near the peak and sold for a nearly 50% loss.

SelectFoods.com sold for 910 USD recently at NameJet, vs 3,600 USD on 2014-01-02 at NameJet. This is a big loss for having bought and sold it on the same domainer platform.

PaymentProvider.com sold for 790 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 3,288 USD on 2008-07-29 at Afternic.

TarotInsight.com sold for 117 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 1,688 USD on 2013-02-04 at Afternic. Based on a look at old screenshots (below), this appears to have been a brand/marketing shop, “We believe that no two brands are the same. That’s why we don’t offer syndicated written reports, but instead offer multiple services that contextualize Millennial trends specifically for your brand.”

Note: I didn’t do an exhaustive search of the ownership history of each domain. There are likely cases where there were multiple owners between the sales prices I list.
