DSAD.com: Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Thursday, July 14th

Jul 14 2016

Escrow.com  Yesterday I did something crazy.  I was having problems with a company in the industry and I emailed someone I knew to see if I could get some better help.   They responded, we talked it out, and now I have a better way of communicating in case I have more problems in the future.  I could have written an article and bitched but I figured I would try and resolve it privately at first.  The first comment from many is that I get special treatment because I write this blog.  While that may be true,  I don’t like that thought because that is essentially saying that I am only being treated differently because I will talk bad about them here. I guess that could be the case but I’ve never entered into a discussion saying help me or else.  Wrong or right, I like to think I get special treatment its because I contacted them and asked for special help and gave them the opportunity to help.  Or because after 7 years in this industry that I have made some good connections. That I can look past a person or two that didn’t give me good customer service and have the patience to get to a person that cared.  Sure, there are going to be companies that don’t have that person.  That don’t care. But there aren’t that many of those companies out there.  Most do care.

I run a large retail store and my company at times has given bad customer service. I even have had bad days where I said something or didn’t do something I should have.  I have lost customers because of it.  But I strive to promote better service and look for people that want to help.  We want to gain more customers because of service and don’t want to lose any due to the lack of it.  But there are some customers that come in looking for a fight.  That from the beginning want us to be the bad guys.  We never get a chance.  Because I’ve been on the other side, I like to give businesses a chance.  Several chances.  And so far in this industry 9 out of 10 people have made right was wrong.   I can name those that left me hanging on one finger.  Most are having the same problem most businesses are having.  Either lack of focus on caring for the customer of a particular individual, or in general, not enough people to fulfill that focus.    Here are today’s names. I agree Shane. We (the domaining community) often spend too much time tearing each other down instead of supporting each other and expanding our marketplace. OK, some forums, blogs, marketplaces and domainers are “better” than others. But they are all part of this niche industry. It doesn’t mean we have to like all of them. It doesn’t mean we coverup for scammers. It doesn’t mean we can’t criticize and give feedback for improvement. But attacks and condemnation are not productive in my opinion. In the end I think we just shoot ourselves in the foot when we take that kind of approach.
