DSAD.com: Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Thursday, June 30th

Jun 30 2016

Escrow.com

Konstantinos at OnlineDomain has had some good info in his recent articles about Sedo lately.  His data isn’t wrong, where he and I differ is what it means.  Undoubtedly they haven’t been aggressive in their push to acquire new sellers and buyers.  But they know their profit and loss numbers better than anyone and I can guarantee you they aren’t ignoring them.  They are a business.  They have to answer to investors.  And Joseph Peterson made a few other good points.  They are and continue to be another opportunity to buy and sell domains.  We should all want that.  We need that.  Yes they could do better but they had a great first quarter.  Sure all Chinese but does it really matter why.  They had some great auctions and sales.  Plain and simple, there are more choices for people to buy and sell domains.  From BrandBucket to Flippa, there are a lot of new players in the last 5 years that are dividing the pie.  And as a domain investor I am glad. I want more choices.  I want more players.  And if a few have to give some share up to do it I am fine with that.  Sedo has been, and continues to be one of the larger players in our space.  They sell millions of dollars of names a month.  And I’m pretty sure they are happy they do and would like to sell more.  They either figure out how to do it or they don’t.  I am merely thankful they are a choice.    Here are today’s names. Click to see current prices

TheTaxGuide.com Has a higher starting bid but can’t think of a better name for a tax guide. I even think the “the” makes it better.

XMRD.com Getting close to $2K

StockCenter.com 13 years old. I feel like I am going to be able to do a lot of stock research here

Snapbacks.com I wasn’t sure why the bids were so high so I had to look it up. I actually own a few of these hats

I don’t think you disagree on what the Sedo numbers mean. Sedo is loosing sales.
You just said that it is good that Sedo still exists and is another option of buying and selling domains.

The thing is we need healthy domain name platforms that make at least some effort to improve. Sedo does the opposite.

The fact that they need to answer to investors is probably what is holding Sedo down for the past few years. Since the founders left there has been no development whatsoever. I have seen this so many times that is really not a surprise. Moniker is a prime example of what happens when companies try to operate on past glory forever.
