SHANE’S BIG LIST: Friday’s Domains at Auction or Dropping on February 21st, 2014

Feb 21 2014

I have received 3 or 4 emails asking “Is NameBrokers a scam” over the last month.  If you aren’t familiar with Namebrokers it is a marketing program to teach people to be Domain Brokers.  At that point they will receive 10% of sales of any names they sell.  My answer is simple, the people behind it are great people Adam, Troy, and Louise.  I also feel sales is sales.  Learning to sell a product is no more than knowing everything you can about your product and learning who your customer is.  There is no need to pay for a class for that. BUT there is reason to pay to accelerate your knowledge of how things work and more about domain names.  You could learn everything you need to learn in a few months yourself or you can pay to learn most of it in a weekend.  Adam Dicker is getting better and better at teaching rather than preaching.  He used to come across as “I know more than you so listen” and now seems to be sharing and teaching.  It comes across in Sherpa and in his training seminars.   That being said, nobody SHOULD EVER pay more than for the course and that’s it. To give any more money for any reason is wrong.  Pay to learn, do not pay to earn.  Here are today’s names.  13 years old. Most people want to know whether they should by a older home or construct a new one but have no idea how much a new home would cost to build.  A sad truth but more men could probably name 5 porn stars before they could name 5 US Senators. Sad unless you built out a site of porn celebrities  14 years old.  Not a bad games name for $12. Two words that are simple and easy to spell and say.   No bidders   49,000 monthly searches.  Our society is all a bunch of voyeurs. 17 years old  A top 100 girls name of 35 year olds.  For $50 it’s a good buy just as an email  Great 3 character domain.  I said I love dot cc names but I also like them left of the dot  Great letters.  And it’s pretty and we know how important a pretty name is  Another nice And of course Mr. Fo may want to buy it  More of an English term “romp” but old Harry had a pretty good Casino Romp when he came to Vegas  No bidders. I like Soothe better but good if you have a massage related product  Not sure what kind of seed you’re going to auction but if you are this is the name you want  A first name in few countries.  Could be a brand as well  Everyone loves gorgeous fashion but it takes style to be fashion gorgeous   Little brother of Jesus, never got the attention he deserved.  Just kidding, no value here   Goes perfectly with Bitty  I wish a few more people would take this.

Working Godaddy Domain Code of the day.. 30% OFF New GTLDS.  bigwin30  I have to admit I love the girls that are in to this.  Nothing sexier to me than an X frame.  I appreciate the hard work and effort that goes into staying lean.  And of course it’s a fantastic domain name as well  One of the better “the” names on Namejet lately  I hope HD hasn’t run its course.  I have a lot of with it in it.  This one is real nice Clark  Another fine   Obvious name here.  Bring your checkbook  Even nerds need an organization

HAVE A NAME AT AUCTION OR FOR SALE? Let me help you get more bidders and more views to your domain. If you have a domain at auction email me as I may be able to help you get more people to take at look at your sale. . contact me for price and availability.

*All names chosen by me, Shane, and the goal of this list is to have all links be paid through commission (click through and purchase a name you like) or paid listing. Everything I say is based on my own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or my opinion is correct.

    Hey Shane

thanks for mentioning NameBrokers, but i must clarify the situation so that you and your readers aren’t misinformed.

Namebrokers has 2 core offerings, firstly, as a broker network, where independent brokers can access seller inventory, technology, escrow and tools to assist the brokerage process. Secondly, we have a recruitment and training business, where we provide workshops, webinars, coaching and support for new brokers.

As a broker network (.com), we take 10% of the commission that the broker earns for assisting complete the sale process and for use of our platform, templates and tools, in most cases this will be somewhere between 1 – 1.5% and not 15% as reported.

As a training business (.org), we charge for the course, coaching, tools and support. Whilst these businesses are synergistic, there is no obligation for a new broker to use the platform, once they are educated, they simply choose too because of its benefits.

Our view is that our training programs can better guide brokers to be more effective when outbound marketing to end users. We believe this approach benefits sellers and buyers alike.

I hope you are well and it was nice to see you again at NamesCon and meet your mom.

    My best

In the last Sherpa interview 3 guys thought the portfolio they were reviewing (had domains like, was solid and Adam was there knocking it and rolling his eyes when someone else made a positive comment about it. He uses “” for his blog. Read that sentence again. Seriously? Was he short on cash and needed to use a hand reg for his blog? How can you knock one word domains when you use a meaningless five word domain for your site which ironically is used to talk about domain names? He comes across as smug and a know it all.

Maybe he’s had good success in selling domains that he bought at the right time (right time right place) but pushing niche sites for hundreds of bucks, using a hand reg for his domain, and teaching others how to broker sounds like he may be running low on those domains he got at the right time and is needing some other form of revenue to supplement himself.

There are a lot of us that are very opinionated. It takes practice to not show it on a public show. I’ve learned to just smile. I promise you that you want Adam on your team. We all have different personalities

  3. Adam Dicker

Thanks for your support, it is appreciated as always.

With I wanted something cool, I could have used a generic as I have many… but I liked the play on trumps book The Art of The Game. I am in no way comparing myself to Trump, just liked the name.

    Hey Andy

Adam is a passionate guy and always speaks his mind and that’s what makes the Sherpa panels so compelling – we get to hear different perspectives!

From our standpoint, its been of significant value to have him as part of our program. Adam is a real ambassador for the domain industry as we reach new audiences globally – our members really value his contribution.

For the record, Adam doesn’t need to do the program at all, I asked him to because he has a “pay it forward” mindset and is a very generous person with lots to give.

Shane is spot on, Adam is a person you want on your team and we are very glad he is on ours!

    Best wishes
