SHANE’S BIG LIST: Monday’s Domains at Auction or Dropping on August 12th, 2013

Aug 12 2013

This weekend I was put to the test. I was made a sizable offer for one of my domains. An offer that would have given me a $5K profit. But I am in the Rick Schwartz camp and believe that the best of the best will continue a fantastic rise in value in the future and the mediocre and weak names will continue to fall. People tell me that the name, toolchest (yes its a dot com) is not what people use, they use toolboxes, but I think they are missing the point. I buy and sell brands. Toolchest has much more value than to just someone that sells toolchests (a very expensive product). It can used for anything that is productive and/or fixes things. It’s hard to pass on a nice profit but there is much more down the road IMO.   Here are today’s names.  Not very many but its July and there’s just not much out there. As a kid I played so many video games I always was looking for “quests”. Going to play pac man at the shaved ice shop turned from a 2 mile bike ride into a quest. 21 year old domain. 16 years old. Which is probably the age of the stinky cheese I’m guessing this will go for $4000. Anything less will be a good buy This one is up for sale every other week. Somebody take this please I’m always talking about brands and this would make a nice Domain sales platform. Nice for $12 that is Long domain but memorable. No bidders

I’m not sure if this only happens to me, but everytime I click on a link to a GoDaddy Auction, I’m taken to GoDaddy’s homepage. This has been occurring for the last couple of months, before that it was ok.

Firstly, thank you for taking Crystal and i out to dinner. It was great seeing your “stomping” grounds. Secondly, hold on to I really like the name. To me, a tool box is a cheaper “at home” item, while tool chests are worth a lot more and mostly used by professionals that know exactly what they need. Good name, IMO its worth well into the xx,xxx range for the right buyer (tool chests sell for thousands!).

This has nothing to do with the current topic, but I found a comment made by you 3 years ago regarding Domains by Proxy that I need help on.

I just attempted to cancel some domain names and services at Go Daddy and was told I had to get “authorization” from domains by proxy. When I sent in the form, I got an email back requiring “government” issued documents as proof of ownership of my company. But, the name in the original application is simply that of my website. When I tried to follow the link to login to their information on my domain (which I did not have or have any idea about), I was sent in a round robin process that led back to start.

Am I correct in assuming that this is simply a way that Go Daddy has of avoiding cancelling and refunding?

Do you know of any way to get this done or is it futile?

      P Jones,

I have an account rep that helped guide me through. When they say government document they simply mean a drivers license or something that proves you are who you say your are. It is a pain in the but a few faxes and emails later you should have it taken care of. It should be a click of a button. Maybe someone here can be more informative.
