SHANE’S BIG LIST: Thursday’s Domains at Auction or Dropping on April 3rd, 2014

Apr 03 2014

Escrow.com

Godaddy can be such idiots some time. There is a reason by people like Konstantino of Online Domains dislike them so much and encourage others to find other registrars.  I won the domain HikingGuide.com at the BuyDomains auction yesterday.  I won it, got an email letting me know and I won and asked for payment.  I paid.  4 hours later I get an email basically saying “Oops, we screwed up. Technical issue you didn’t win, the domain didn’t make reserve and we’re giving you your money back”  How does a billion dollar company continuously screw things like this up?  It’s a simple back end build out and shouldn’t ever mess up.  Man do I have a love hate relationship with those guys. I get good affiliate money all the while getting screwed out of commissions of sales I 100% brought to them.  I guess beggars can’t be choosers but I sure can bitch.    SPECIAL: Last Day to Submit Names for Book of 10. 3 Spots Left. $35 for two names. $50 for three.   Your our names are posted on DomainShane, at the top of Domaining.com and is sent out to Domaining.com’s approx. 18,000 subscribers.

HouseDirect.com  No bidders and 18 years old.   I sold my house direct and kept the 5%.  Pretty sure all the flowers I put around helped.  The new owners were a bit surprised when they were all gone when they moved in

DirectDomain.com  17 years old.  Under $25 at press time

Y5.net  Two character dot nets are hard to come by and the price reflects it

EgoBoost.com  15 years old.  It’s met reserve and high bidder gets it from here.  The new generation isn’t known as the me generation for nothing

QualityWorkers.com  No bidders. 14 years old.   Nice name for an employment site

Suppressor.com    14 years old.   There is a lot of information that needs to be suppressed now a days.

SmartSleeper.com  Only one bidder.   Good marketing name for some sleep product.  I already am addicted to a sleep aid.  It’s called physical work.

4e.cc  I showed in a post last week that Chinese domain buyers are paying mid $500 for these

WDLN.com  Solid letters for a domain presently under $100

Working Godaddy Domain Code of the day.. $1.99 Dot Com That works in Europe (plus ICANN fees) JEFF199

Have a name at auction and need more exposure. Send me an email. I may be able to help.

IPVI.com  17 years old.  Real purdy letters

RootBeer.net   It may be because I love Root Beer but only two bidders so it could be a good buy

GrowOnline.com  Pretty much what ever business is trying to do

RAFO.com   Big CVCV name.   Will do well

Whoo.com   What a bunch of drunk girls say when one of them says something they all like

Omelettes.com  I mentioned before I eat one every Sunday so I probably should buy it

QWZ.com  Already at $7K.  I underestimated the value of this one.  But I do this every day

BlackCar.com   Might hit $10K

Slaps.com  Nice app name.  Short and painful.  Just like I like it

VintageShoes.com  I own vintagescarves dot com and like it better because scarves are easier to clean

Shedding.com  One of the reasons we no longer have a dog

RandomStuff.com  The easiest build out of all the name on the list today.

*All names chosen by me, Shane, and the goal of this list is to have all links be paid through commission (click through and purchase a name you like) or paid listing. Everything I say is based on my own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or my opinion is correct.

GoDaddy auctions are offline since several hours. This is the message from Blake Irving:

We are experiencing problems. We understand this is impacting some customers and we take this situation very seriously.
Everyone at GoDaddy.com is working to restore all sites affected by this outage as soon as possible.
Please see updates on Twitter.com by following @GoDaddy or on Facebook.
    Thank you for your patience.

I’m wondering why people still trust a registrar/web host company that is not able to keep its own site up.

GoDaddy is going from bad to even worse. To quote Konstantinos Zournas: “They are the worst. End of story.”

Overreact much? Every site has gone done before, don’t know of one that had 100% uptime. This is the first time I can remember with GoDaddy and I’ve been with them for many years.

Why people stick with GoDaddy? It’s the cheapest, simple as that.

About 2 weeks ago, I got an email to the same effect.

Except in my case – a few days after winning – they followed up with an email saying that the owner of the domain decided not to sell and my money will be refunded.

What sort of “auction” is that? There was no reserve on the domain I won.

I was the last bid against you for HikingGuide.com. Hell of a name. Sorry you lost it to GD ineptness… but I’m also glad it wasn’t me that got that stupid “oops” email from them.
